BREAKING NEWS - HELP WANTED. PDQ has an immediate opening for a part time retail sales associate. Candidates should be good with customers, have basic computer skills (we will train on our software). Position will be mostly weekday afternoons, about 20 hours a week, and flexible hours a plus. You will need to be able to lift small packages.

We have some good news for our remote customers. PDQ can now accept payments from remote customers via Zelle. Zelle is a nationwide 3rd party banking service that allows you to send payments directly from your bank account to ours. We've checked and virtually all banks seem to participate in this program. To use it, the customer will need to enroll in Zelle with their bank's online service. Once enrolled, you will need to set up PDQ as a recipient (use email option and firstname.lastname@example.org as our secure ID). Then you can make payments right away. Please ask our staff for further information. Of course, we still accept credit and debit cards.

Effective January 1, 2022, styrofoam packing peanuts are banned in New York State (along with styro food packaging). PDQ has set aside whatever leftover styro peanuts we had (and plan to re-purpose them to stores outside New York State). We switched to starch-based biodegradable peanuts. As a result, effective immediately, PDQ will no longer accept styrofoam packaging - peanuts or pre-formed blocks. Contact your local town to find out how to recycle these items.
PDQ Mask Rules:
We are trying to maintain a safe environment at PDQ for all staff and customers. We ask anyone with any symptoms that could be viral-related (seasonal allergies or coughing and sneezing, for example) to wear a face mask. Please help us in our efforts whether you are vaccinated or not. Our staff is fully vaccinated. Thanks for your cooperation.
NEW INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMS REGULATIONS. Since March 2021 there are new customs requirements for virtually all of Europe - all 27 EU countries plus Norway and Switzerland (for now, not the UK due to Brexit). For each item, we need to find and include the harmonized code to properly classify each item in the shipment. This will help ensure the proper duties and taxes are assigned to each shipment, and will help to expedite customs clearance for these packages. This regulation applies to all carriers and all shippers. And it would not surprise us to see this requirement be rolled out to more countries in the foreseeable future.
We ask each customer with a package to these countries to bring with them an accurate list of items in the package; we must provide a detailed description for each item - words like "clothing", "electronics" "personal effects" or "gift" just won't cut it, and generally all international items need at least a 3-word description. If we can't itemize properly, your recipient (and possibly you, the shipper) are liable to pay higher duties and taxes on the shipment, as well as significantly slow down the customs clearance process and delay delivery. For example, a cotton t-shirt will have a different code than a ladies' silk designer shirt. We understand that this can be a somewhat tedious practice, but it has to be done. We have access to the database of codes and will do our best to properly describe each item with you - that's why PDQ is your local shipping expert.
PREPAID DROPOFF PACKAGES. If you will be dropping off prepaid packages, we ask that you make sure your name and phone number is on the package; we have found a number of packages dropped off that were missing the correct label or documentation, and we had no way to reach the customer who returned it. So this is for your benefit to get the package returned as quickly as possible. We can't give it to the proper carrier if the label and documents are missing. If you have any concerns about our COVID-related procedures, please let us know and we will do our best to adjust to improve our service for everyone.
BIG NEWS AT PDQ! PDQ Mail Plus is now a part of a new national retail brand - PACKAGEHUB BUSINESS CENTERSTM. There are already over 600 locations, and the group has been legally approved in all 50 states.
Just so you know, PDQ will continue to operate exactly as we have for the past 28 years, and will offer all the same services you have come to appreciate at PDQ. The new network will help with marketing and allow us to act as a group with other similar stores across the country.
