Monday, August 19, 2019: The end of summer isn't too far away, pre-season football is in full swing, and big-box stores are featuring not only back-to-school but also Halloween candy. Whatever happened to enjoying the summer while we have it?
As far as PDQ scheduling is concerned, we will be closed for Labor Day weekend - Saturday, August 31st through Monday, September 2nd. We will be back with regular hours on Tuesday, September 3rd. Also, as of Saturday, September 7th, we will return to our normal Saturday hours of 10am to 3pm.
Don't forget that PDQ makes custom banners. If you are having a party or any kind of get-together (outdoor for summer or early fall parties too), tie it all together with a banner! We can do full-color text, photos, or any combination of them. Check at the store for what works best for your needs and budget.
PDQ now uses a new service for our fax - what is called "e-fax". The receiver will get the fax the normal way, but we handle it differently on our end, and there is now a lag before we get the confirmation sheet. For that reason, we will be asking for your email address so we can forward to you the confirmation notice when it comes in - usually about a half hour after it is sent. If you are receiving a fax at PDQ, the fax number of 914-833-1175 is the same, and we get it in about the same time frame as before.
Over the past few months, both UPS and FedEx have revised the discount structure for Authorized stores like PDQ - and our retail prices on most of their services have gone down, in some cases significantly. This is a good sign that the carriers are valuing what we do at PDQ, and are truly interested in helping us serve our customers better - with a bit less "sticker shock" than before. As always, PDQ strives to offer you the best prices we can on our services. Remember that PDQ's retail prices on all international express services - UPS, FedEx and DHL are at least 20% below list price, and often as much as 25% lower.
We have found that Amazon has revised their return options, and it is causing problems for some of our customers. Up to a couple months ago, you had several choices for returns, and the option we were able to help with was "print the label on your printer" (or some such wording). Now Amazon pre-selects one option for merchandise returns - using a service that Amazon has negotiated with the UPS Store franchise group (which we are not a part of). Unfortunately, we are unable to read this code, It's like when you order from Amazon, and they pre-select your "gift card" instead of your credit card - it's easy, but not always right. For returns that we can help you with, you will need to select the 2nd option - UPS Dropoff - which allows you to actually print the prepaid return label. Just forward that file to email@example.com and we can print it for you for $2.15 (or print it yourself, and skip our charge).
Got extra packing materials? PDQ will gladly accept your "peanuts", airbags, and other fillers. Cardboard boxes (except to contain the peanuts) should be recycled at the curb - we don't re-use boxes. However, until further notice, please don't bring us hard molded styrofoam pieces. We have very limited use for these and probably have enough in stock to last for several years. We are aware that New York City has banned the use of styrofoam peanuts starting January 1, 2019, including them with one-time-use styrofoam packaging. Since PDQ does recycle and re-use styrofoam peanuts, we are doing our part for the the environment by keeping them out of the landfills. We will continue to investigate other packaging protection ideas, and hope that the New York City plan is revised before it spreads to the suburbs.

Now at PDQ! PDQ has a great service for our customers - signs, banners, photo reprints, enlargements, and all types of photo specialty prints, all done right here at PDQ. Fotozoomer comes with a self-service kiosk and easy to use layout software. You decide what to print, what size, what type of paper or vinyl, and we can have it ready usually in minutes. One of the new media available to us is called Foto-TAQ - a removable, re-usable sticky-backed item that prints at high quality, and sticks to almost anything. Look for these new items to be displayed on your next visit to PDQ..
PDQ has been expanding our digital mailbox program for people on the go, who need a mailing address, but can't come to the store to physically pick up their mail. We have been partnering with iPostal1, a company that has developed an app for recipients to get their mail information online, and then tell us what to do with each piece of mail - scan, send, or discard. Now we are a location for KOA Postal Mail Services for RVer's and other travellers, and we can send it wherever you need it. You get a real street address, and can take advantage of our 25 years of customer service. PDQ also partners with Anytime Mailboxes to provide another option for those interested in digital mailboxes.
